November 28, 2008. Our newest high-end model, the third generation Model 1600, is now available. And for a limited time during the holiday season, you can take advantage of special introductory pricing that will save you 20%.
A follow-up to our model 1400HD, it features improved analog electronics, and incorporates the latest ultra-low distortion op-amps from National Semiconductor throughout the signal path. It is housed in a heavy metal cabinet treated with anti-resonant sound absorbing material. The result is an amazingly open and transparent sound that will turn your computer into a truely high-end music source.
At the present time, we no longer stock the Models 1200, 1300 and 1400HD.
Our website now has a special section dedicated to products from Acoustic Energy. Details are available on the WiFi Internet Radio, AE1 Classic and the AEGO M compact loudspeaker system, recently featured in the December 2007 issue of The Absolute Sound. The Aego M is a powered 2.1 system designed for computer and iPod use, but is also an ideal system wherever space is limited. Most other AE models, including the highly acclaimed AE1 MkIII, are available as special orders. See the Acoustic Energy pages for details
Back in 1999, we envisioned the impact computers would have on the way people bought, stored and
listened to their music. Many companies saw the potential for portable players. Instead we designed the first

How it works
We use USB to digitally transfer the music out of the computer to the stereo-link
(a box about the size of a hardcover book). There, away from the electrically noisy computer,
it is converted to a clean analog signal. This is referred to as a USB DAC (Digital to Analog Converter).
You connect the stereo-link to a line level input on your preamp, receiver or
amplifier just as you would a CD or DVD player.
The computer's existing sound devices are bypassed altogether.
Our unique design, featured in all our models, features a special isolation circuit that keeps the
ground of your computer isolated from your audio system. This means that ground loop hum,
buzzing, and other unwanted noises are virtually eliminated.
Whether your audio system is right next to you, or in
the next room, our StudioSeries cables (available separately or with the model 1300) will let you connect
up to 80 feet away without any loss of quality.
Or use the built-in low distortion headphone amplifier
for private listening at your computer. The design utilizes high current operational amplifiers instead
of IC based headphone amplifiers found in most products. So you can listen for as long as
you like without experiencing "listening fatigue".
Most importantly, you'll be able to play all of your music - CD, MP3, iTunes, Windows Media,
any of the lossless formats (FLAC, APE), podcasts, streaming radio - even video soundtracks - whatever the format.
Unlike music server products, the stereo-link uses your existing player software to play the music files.
So there are no compatability problems or Digital Rights Management (DRM) issues - if you have the software, it will play it. Now and in the future.
On practically ALL modern computers; desktop PCs to notebooks, Macs and even Linux.
No drivers to install. No drivers to upgrade. Never obsolete.

Model 1600HD |
Our newest model 1600HD USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier is designed to meet the demanding expectations
of high-end audiophiles, while remaining affordably priced.
Many hours of critical listening have gone into fine tuning this design. It features a new, very low noise power supply design using low ESR capacitors that provides a
total of 4 separate voltage supplies to the internal components. Audiophile quality components,
and the latest ultra-low distortion op-amps from National Semiconductor are used
throughout the analog signal path. And like its predecessors, it incorporate our unique isolation circuitry that keeps electrical
noise in your computer from getting into your audio system, and virtually eliminates ground loop problems. The rear panel Neutrik
RCA jacks are electrically isolated from the chassis and computer ground.
The headphone amplifier is designed to drive a wide range of headphones, delivering 75 mW into 33 ohms, 130 mW into 150 ohms.
The product comes with a Belkin Pure-AV high-end USB cable,
Own StudioSeries audio interconnects are also available in your choice of length. Please allow a few days for orders to be processed,
as we burn-in each unit before final testing and shipping.

Why stereo-link?
stereo-link products are designed to give you the best sound possible, with plug and play simplicity.
We bring to our designs years of experience in the professional, mid and high-end audio industry.
We understand that the analog design can be even more important than the digital design,
and that combining the two is as much an art as a science. Unlike mass-market USB audio devices,
we pay special attention to the real-world problems that can get in the way of your listening enjoyment. Problems which
often don't appear until you actually tie your electrically noisy computer to a
quiet and revealing audio system. Problems even high-end manufacturers ignore.
